Introduction: My name is Iolas Smith and I am currently a senior taking an Educational Technology class to help become an educator. In this blog post I will be sharing my experience with my first 2 observations of the year, which would be my high school observations.
High School 1 = My first high school observation was with a teacher named Mrs.Cardenas. She is a 10th grade geometry teacher. This observation went really well and I learned a lot about classroom management and the best ways to get students to stay engaged. I also learned some different websites you can use in the classroom.
High School 2 = For my second high school observation I observed a teacher named Mrs.Weaver. She was teaching her piano 1 class. In this observation I learned that repetition is memorization in a classroom. I also learned that it is very important to always make sure that each student is understanding what you are teaching. In order to make sure of this, I should go around to each student and engage with each of them to see if they are fully understanding what they are doing.
Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway
The greatest takeaway of my high school observations was probably getting to see what works best in high school classrooms since I am planning on being in a high school classroom someday. I think all the information I learned was very helpful and will be very useful.
Conclusion: Overall these observations were a success and I would love to visit these teachers classrooms again sometime for observations because I learned a lot in these classrooms.
