Middle School Observations

Introduction: My name is Iolas Smith and I am currently a senior taking a class called Educational Technology to help myself become a Pre-Educator. In today's blog post I will be going over my middle school observations. For these observations I had the same teacher for my 2-week. Middle School Observation 1 = For my first middle school observation I had a teacher named Mrs.Cooper. She is the music teacher in the middle and the choir teacher. For my first observation with her she went over the song firework with her students and she taught them a lot about lines and spaces in music. Then the students played a game to help them get more familiar with were spaces and the lines are on a staff. In the observation I learned how to make class time more fun and enjoyable for students. Middle School Observation 2 = Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway   Conclusion:

Jr.High Observations

Introduction: My name is Iolas Smith and in this blog post I will be going over my Jr.High Observations. These are observations that I do for an Educational Technology class. Jr.High Observation 1 = My first Jr.High observation for the year was a teacher named Mr.Freeman. Mr.Freeman is a science teacher for the 9th grade. In this observation I learned a lot about how to be patient with students who are not very respectful to you in your classroom. During this observation there were a lot of students that were disruptive during his class. He kept his calm and tried to redirect his class in a very civil way. I loved how he did it very respectfully and calmly but was productive. I would love to use this type of redirection in my classroom. Jr.High Observation 2 = My second observation for the Jr.High was a teacher named Mrs.Cude. Mrs.Cude was a math teacher but I am unsure of what grade she was teaching. During my observation she was helping students study and get ready for o...

High School Observations

Introduction: My name is Iolas Smith and I am currently a senior taking an Educational Technology class to help become an educator. In this blog post I will be sharing my experience with my first 2 observations of the year, which would be my high school observations. High School 1 = My first high school observation was with a teacher named Mrs.Cardenas. She is a 10th grade geometry teacher. This observation went really well and I learned a lot about classroom management and the best ways to get students to stay engaged. I also learned some different websites you can use in the classroom. High School 2 = For my second high school observation I observed a teacher named Mrs.Weaver. She was teaching her piano 1 class. In this observation I learned that repetition is memorization in a classroom. I also learned that it is very important to always make sure that each student is understanding what you are teaching. In order to make sure of this, I should go around to each student a...

3.3 Preschool Observation

This blog will be about my 2 preschool observations. Where I went down to the preschool and observed a classroom twice.  1st Observation: I was absent for this observation due to doctors appointments.  2nd Observation: I was also absent for this observation due to doctors appointments.  This means that I will be rescheduling the observations in order to make them up.

3.4 Elementary Observation

For my Education Technology class we go to different classrooms to observe to help us learn how to become better teachers. This month we are focused on elementary classrooms. My elementary observation teacher is Mrs.Lancaster. She is a 2nd grade teacher. 1st Observation: My first observation with Mrs. Lancaster was fun and interesting. Here are two things I learned from the observation.  Thing 1: I learned how to deal with bad behavior productively.  Thing 2: I learned better ways to get kids back on track when they get distracted.  Overall I think this observation was very successful and worth my time. The teacher was very nice and I enjoyed learning.  2nd Observation: This observation is also with Mrs. Lancaster but sadly it will have to be rescheduled once I am no longer sick. I have a fever.

3.2 100th Day of School

100 days of school  Throughout my almost 12 years of school, I can distinctly remember the feeling of it being the 100th day of school. All my teachers were excited, all of them having something planned. But one year something really surprised me, it made a memory that could never be forgotten. One year in elementary, for the 100th day of school, the principals rented out a bunch of bouncy houses and put them in our gym. We got to bouncy on the bouncy houses, and we also got the ride around on the little square rolling stools (my favorite as a kid). It was so much fun. We got to enjoy some nostalgic Domino's pizza and share popsicles together. That was the most unforgettable 100th day of school.  Some things we could do in order to still celebrate the 100th day of school:  1. Give everyone a popsicle for the day  2. We could get every English teacher to give each of there students a sticky note and make them write what there favorite day of school has been this year ...

One Word for 2026

Heal  Throughout 2025 I went through a lot with my physical and mental well being. I experienced two surgeries and went to the emergency room several times. With all of this happening I have realized that I have never really given myself the proper time to heal. Yes my physical body has healed most of the way from 2025 but not my mentality. In 2026 I plan on giving myself more grace, letting myself be open, meditating and giving joy back into myself. But I can't do any of this without healing. I am a very religious person, who is focused a lot on God's miracles. I know that God will help heal me, so this year I will do just that. This year I will regain my happiness, regain my joy, and heal my mind, body, and soul.
