4.3 Elementary Observations

 Makeup observations:

In these makeup observations I watched Youtube learning videos.

1. How to catch a student that is using Chat GPT: Create a classroom policy that states what the students can use and can't use. Then say that the students have to show the teacher any website they will be using and get it approved before using it.

If a student has already use Chat GPT and you catch it in their essay you could confront the student about this. If they deny it you could ask the students questions about the essay they wrote. Or you could have the student remake the essay on paper instead of a device in front of you as in, in your classroom. you can prevent the use of Chat GPT by making the students only do their assignments during class, only letting them do their assignments on paper. Or you could use go guardian.

2. Observation: Classroom management strategies

During a break you could use your classroom as a study room, break room or a safe room. This is good for the student to be able to be open with you. The second thing you should do is you should always greet every student that walks into your classroom. Next, You should always keep your lesson plan on your board so the students know what you are doing that day. Then something you could do is call the students by an uncommon name to catch the students off guard. Lastly, always make sure your class is moving, as in always learning.

5 week observation

Introduction: My 5 week observation teacher was Mrs. Barker I would go into her classroom every Monday and Wednesday during this time frame.

Lesson plan 1: My first lesson plan was created by Mrs.Barker. In my lesson the kids watched an animated version of a story. During the story I would have the video paused and I would ask the students questions about the story throughout the story. Then afterwards I announced the students to a paper they were going to complete based off of the story read. This includes questions about the character.

lesson plan 2: In my second story the students read a passage about Harriet Tubman and then I asked the students questions about the passage that they had to go and highlight in their story. Then afterwards, the students answered the questions that were on flashcards on each of their desks.

4.4 Middle School Observations

Middle School 1 = Mrs. Patterson

Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway

  • Thing 1: The first thing I enjoyed about Mrs. Patterson's teaching skills was that she explained things to her students very well and was very descriptive.
  • Thing 2: The second thing I enjoyed a lot was that she was always walking around the class to make sure the students understood everything and that she was there if any student needed help with anything.

Greatest takeaway: My greatest takeaway was to always be open with communication with your students. As a future teacher I should always try to communicate with my students to the dest of my ability or even over communicate to make sure they fully understand.

Middle School 1 = Mrs. Barker

Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway

  • Thing 1: I enjoyed how much she used group discussion I the class. I think it is smart to let the class speak out when they can especially since they are at a younger age therefore they are going to walk to talk even more. Mrs.Barker lets the students share there ideas with the other students or with the class. This helps the students to not interrupt her when she is teaching.
  • Thing 2: My second greatest takeaway is the use of highlighters. I love how she makes the students highlight there answers or important parts of passages. This helps the students stay more focused or even get a little more excited about the lesson because they get to use color.

Greatest takeaway: The greatest takeaway would be to always find things that interest the students. Then try to find something that involves that interest that the students have but that also benefits them or their learning.

  • Thing 2: I loved how the teacher was working everything out on the board, this is because the students pic more up from what is going on this way

Jr. High School 2 = Mrs. Weaver

Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway

  • Thing 1: How to keep a classroom well engaged through a lecture
  • Thing 2: How to be entertaining and enjoyable even with a not so enjoyable topic
Greatest takeaway: The greatest takeaway I received from this was the more engaged you are with each of your students, the greater takeaway you will have.

Conclusion: I enjoyed listening to this classroom

4.1 Highschool Observations

Introduction: I am a student in the 11th grade, and I plan to be a choir director in the future. Therefore, I am taking an Intro to Education class. In this education class we get to observe classrooms.

High School 1 = For my first observation I got to watch Mrs.Williams

  • The two things I enjoyed about her classroom was how organized her classroom was, and how productive her students were, she has a nice set up to where they know what they are doing.

High School 2 = Mrs. Weaver

Her students where very productive.

She engages with every student that is in the classroom.

Something You Learned = Greatest Takeaway

During these observations my greatest take away is, you have to be engaged with every student, this is good to know because without engaging with every student, some won't pay attention well.

Conclusion: In conclusion, my highschool observation went really well. I'm thankful that the first observations I did were with teachers that I was familiar with. This helped with anxiety, and seeing how everything would work in a comfortable area before doing it in unfamiliar places.
